Jerusalem is our classroom

Jerusalem is more than our location. It is part of how we learn.

Our home in the heart of Jerusalem’s City Center places students within reach of an extraordinary world of Torah and intellectual life: batei midrash, libraries, archives, museums, historic sites, and, most importantly, the remarkable talmidot and talmidei chachamim, scholars, thinkers, and teachers who call Jerusalem home.

Amudim students learn not only from our exceptional faculty, but from the city itself. They encounter ideas where they are being studied, debated, written, and lived, and discover what it means to become active participants in the religious and intellectual life of Jerusalem.

Campus

Amudim’s Beit Midrash and classrooms are located in the heart of Jerusalem’s City Center, in a beautiful 120-year-old historic teachers’ college that combines classic Jerusalem character with a vibrant academic atmosphere.

Our central location places students within easy walking distance of many of Jerusalem’s most important cultural, educational, and religious landmarks, while providing convenient access to the National Library of Israel, museums, internship placements, and the many neighborhoods in which our students live and explore. With the Old City, Machane Yehuda, downtown Jerusalem, and countless batei midrash, cafés, libraries, and cultural institutions nearby, Jerusalem itself becomes an extension of the Amudim classroom.

At Amudim, students don’t simply spend a year learning in Israel, but become active participants in the intellectual, religious, and everyday life of Jerusalem.

Apartment Living

Rather than traditional dormitory living, Amudim students live in apartments in Rechavia, just a six-minute walk from the Midrasha. Located at the meeting point of Rechavia, Nachlaot, Shaarei Chesed, and Midtown Jerusalem, our apartments allow students to experience the energy of central Jerusalem during the day while coming home to the quiet, leafy streets of a residential neighborhood.

Apartment living is an important part of Amudim’s commitment to independent learning and independent living. Students learn to manage a home together and take real ownership of their daily lives, while each apartment has a madricha who provides warmth, support, and structure.

Sharing a home, as well as all the ordinary experiences of daily life, creates deep bonds. At the end of a full day of learning and exploring Jerusalem, students have a place that is genuinely theirs: somewhere to cook, relax, talk, laugh, and simply be together.

Having a home in Jerusalem gives our students a profound sense of belonging, stability, and connection to one another, the city, and life in Israel, during their year at Amudim and long after it ends.

Each apartment is fully equipped for comfortable daily living, with WiFi, laundry facilities, a kitchen, and shared living spaces.

Students receive three meals each day while the Midrasha is in session. Groceries are provided for students to prepare their own breakfasts, while wholesome, well-balanced lunches and dinners are provided by a local caterer.
